I
hope you are enjoying the Stone Elementary website. Were very proud
of our school, and we hope you find all the information here helpful. Let
me introduce myself. My name is Joy Goad. I am thrilled to be the Assistant
Principal at Stone Elementary School. I truly believe it is one of the
finest schools in Tennessee and that is because of the conscientious hardworking
staff and students here.
I grew up in Tennessee. My mother was a public school teacher who attended
Tennessee Tech University, and I have followed in her footsteps. All three
of my degrees are from Tennessee Tech! I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary
Education, a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Special
Education, and an Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S) in Instructional
Leadership (school administration). My certifications are: Elementary Education
grades 1-8, Special Education K-12, and Administration Pre-Kindergarten
through 12th grade.
I believe that all students are special and deserve respect and as much
individualized attention as we can give them. My first position was as
a Resource Teacher in rural East Tennessee. My last four years in the classroom
were spent teaching sixth-grade language arts. I love reading to students
and teaching them to enjoy learning through reading. Before that I taught
fourth grade. I have been with Stone since it opened in 1999.
I began teaching in Cumberland County in 1996, and I have enjoyed all of
my teaching assignments. All in all, Ive taught Kindergarten (briefly),
First Grade, 4th Grade, 6th Grade, and Special Education: Resource. I am
a product of public education and I was a teacher for 11 years before becoming
Assistant Principal. In addition, I have also taught college courses for
Roane State Community College as an adjunct instructor.
My husband and I are both educators and we see education as our mission.
We have one son, 3 cats and a dog. Our family is very active at Cumberland
Homesteads Baptist Church where I also play the piano.
Keep surfing our website there is lots more to learn! Mrs. Goad
